Getting from Anafi to Patras

If you are heading to Patras from Anafi you are making your way from one of the most remote islands in the Cyclades to the third largest city in Greece on the southern shore of the Gulf of Corinth, the main gateway to the Ionian islands and western Europe.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Anafi to Patras. Getting there means taking the ferry from Anafi to Santorini, flying to Athens and then taking the KTEL bus or driving west to Patras, which takes around 2 to 2.5 hours from Athens via the E65 motorway. Alternatively, take the overnight ferry from Anafi to Piraeus and drive west to Patras from there.

Getting there by air

Patras has a small seasonal airport at Araxos, around 40 kilometres from the city, operating limited flights from May to October only. The most practical approach is to take the ferry from Anafi to Santorini, fly to Athens and then take the KTEL bus or drive to Patras. Total journey time is around 5 to 6 hours.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Anafi to Santorini, fly to Athens and take the KTEL bus to Patras. The bus from Athens Kifissos terminal runs frequently and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Anafi to Piraeus and drive west to Patras via the E65 motorway.
