Getting from Anafi to Santorini

If you are heading to Santorini from Anafi you are making one of the most natural connections in the Cyclades, to the most iconic island in Greece just 15 nautical miles to the west. Santorini has caldera views, volcanic beaches and the ancient Minoan site of Akrotiri preserved under volcanic ash.

Take the ferry

There is a direct ferry from Anafi to Santorini running year-round, operated by Blue Star Ferries and Maistros Santorini. The crossing takes around 1 hour 10 to 1 hour 30 minutes. In summer the service runs up to 1 to 2 times daily and in the low season drops to around 2 to 3 times a week. Book ahead in July and August as spaces fill quickly. If you are traveling with a car, the Blue Star conventional ferry takes vehicles on this route.

Getting there by air

Anafi has no airport. Santorini has an international airport with daily connections from Athens and European cities. The ferry is the only direct connection between the two islands and at under 90 minutes it is one of the most effortless crossings in the Cyclades.

Your best option

Take the direct ferry from Anafi to Santorini. It is short, scenic and the most natural connection from the island. Arriving into Santorini by sea with the caldera rising from the water is one of the great island arrivals in Greece. Check the schedule before your trip as the frequency drops considerably outside summer.
