Getting from Andros to Alonissos

If you are heading to Alonissos from Andros you are making your way from the northernmost island in the Cyclades to the most remote of the Sporades group, in the northern Aegean. It has a densely forested coastline, a beautifully preserved old village above the port and a marine park that protects the largest colony of Mediterranean monk seals in Europe.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Andros to Alonissos. The two islands are in different island groups with no sea connection between them. Getting there means taking the ferry from Andros to Rafina, which runs up to 11 times daily and takes around 1 to 2 hours, and then traveling by road to Volos or Mantoudi in northern Evia for the ferry to Alonissos. From Mantoudi the crossing takes around 2 hours and from Volos around 3 to 5 hours. Note that as of 2026 there are no departures from Agios Konstantinos to Alonissos.

Getting there by air

Alonissos has no airport. The nearest airport is Skiathos, with daily connections from Athens. Andros has no airport either. Taking the ferry from Andros to Rafina, flying to Athens and then Athens to Skiathos, followed by the ferry from Skiathos to Alonissos taking around 1 to 2 hours, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Andros to Rafina, fly to Athens and then fly to Skiathos and take the ferry across to Alonissos. It is the most time efficient approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Andros to Rafina, drive to Volos or Mantoudi and take the ferry to Alonissos from there.
