Getting from Andros to Piraeus

If you are heading to Piraeus from Andros you are making your way from the northernmost island in the Cyclades to the largest port in Greece and the gateway to Athens and the wider ferry network.

Take the ferry

Andros is not directly connected to Piraeus by regular ferry. The main connection from Andros to the Athens area runs via Rafina, which is around 20 kilometres from Athens Airport and considerably closer than Piraeus. There are occasional seasonal ferry connections from Andros to Piraeus but these are infrequent. The most practical approach is to take the ferry from Andros to Rafina and then travel to Piraeus by taxi or bus, which takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on traffic.

Getting there by air

Piraeus has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 45 kilometres to the east. Andros has no airport either. Taking the ferry from Andros to Rafina and then traveling to Piraeus by road gives a total journey time of around 2.5 to 3 hours.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Andros to Rafina and travel to Piraeus by taxi or bus. From Rafina the most practical route to Piraeus goes via the Athens ring road and takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour. Alternatively, take the metro from Athens Airport to Piraeus, which takes around 60 minutes on Line 3. If you are traveling with a car, drive from Rafina to Piraeus via the Athens ring road.
