Getting from Andros to Serifos

If you are heading to Serifos from Andros you are making your way from the northernmost island in the Cyclades to an island in the western part of the group. It has a Chora that climbs a steep hill above the port in a way that looks almost impossibly dramatic from the water.

Take the ferry

There is a seasonal direct ferry from Andros to Serifos running in summer on the wider Blue Star and Seajets routes. The journey takes around 8 to 9 hours with stops along the way through Tinos, Mykonos, Syros and other islands. The more practical approach for most travelers is to take the ferry from Andros to Rafina, which runs up to 11 times daily and takes around 1 to 2 hours, make your way to Piraeus and board the Piraeus to Serifos ferry, which runs 4 to 5 times daily in summer and takes around 2 to 3.5 hours on the fast boat.

Getting there by air

Serifos has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Andros has no airport either. Taking the ferry from Andros to Rafina, flying to Athens and then taking the ferry from Piraeus to Serifos gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Andros to Rafina, make your way to Piraeus and board the Piraeus to Serifos ferry. The fast boat at around 2 to 3.5 hours makes for a very manageable total journey. If you are traveling with a car, the ferry from Andros already puts you at Rafina with your vehicle, then drive to Piraeus for the conventional ferry to Serifos, which takes your vehicle directly to Livadi port.
