Getting from Antikythera to Sifnos

If you are heading to Sifnos from Antikythera you are making your way from one of the most remote islands in Greece to one of the most respected islands in the Cyclades, on the opposite side of the country. It is known above all for its food, a tradition of pottery and cooking that has made it one of the most regarded gastronomic destinations in the Aegean.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Antikythera to Sifnos. Antikythera's ferry connections are limited to Kythira, Piraeus, Kissamos in Crete and occasional ports on the southern Peloponnese. Getting to Sifnos means taking the ferry from Antikythera to Piraeus, which takes around 9 hours, and then boarding the Piraeus to Sifnos ferry, which runs up to 4 times daily in summer and takes around 2.5 hours on the fast boat.

Getting there by air

Sifnos has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Antikythera has no airport, only a helipad. Taking the ferry from Antikythera to Kythira, flying to Athens and then taking the ferry from Piraeus to Sifnos gives a total journey time of around 6 to 7 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Antikythera to Kythira, fly to Athens and take the ferry from Piraeus to Sifnos. At around 2.5 hours on the fast boat the Piraeus to Sifnos crossing is one of the more manageable Cyclades connections. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Antikythera to Piraeus and board the conventional Piraeus to Sifnos ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to Kamares port.
