Getting from Antiparos to Aegina

If you are heading to Aegina from Antiparos you are making your way from a small quiet island in the Cyclades to the closest major island to Athens, in the Saronic Gulf. It has the best preserved ancient Greek temple in the country at Afaia, a thriving pistachio industry and a waterfront that fills up with Athenians every weekend.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Antiparos to Aegina. Antiparos is connected only to Paros by a 7 minute ferry from Pounta running every 30 minutes in summer. Getting to Aegina means taking the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros, making your way to Piraeus and then boarding the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Aegina, which takes around 40 minutes on the fast boat and around 1 hour 20 minutes on the conventional ferry, with over 40 daily departures in summer.

Getting there by air

Aegina has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Antiparos has no airport either. Taking the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros, making your way to Piraeus and flying to Athens and then taking the Saronic ferry to Aegina gives a total journey time of around 6 to 7 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros, make your way to Piraeus and board the Saronic ferry to Aegina. With over 40 daily departures in summer you never need to book the Piraeus to Aegina connection in advance. If you are traveling with a car, take the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros and drive to Piraeus for the conventional ferry across to Aegina.
