Getting from Antiparos to Syros

If you are heading to Syros from Antiparos you are making your way from a small quiet island in the Cyclades to the capital of the group, on the western side of the Aegean. It has a neoclassical port city of grand mansions and an opera house modelled on La Scala that is one of the most distinctive urban environments in the Greek islands.

Take the ferry

There is a seasonal direct ferry from Antiparos to Syros running in summer on the wider Blue Star and Seajets routes. The service runs a limited number of times per week and takes around 4 to 7 hours with stops along the way. The more practical approach is to take the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros, which takes 7 minutes from Pounta, and then board the Paros to Syros ferry, which runs several times daily in summer and takes around 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the vessel.

Getting there by air

Syros has a small domestic airport with limited connections from Athens. Antiparos has no airport either. Taking the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros and continuing to Syros by ferry keeps the journey entirely within the Cyclades and avoids Athens entirely. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros and board the Paros to Syros ferry. It is the most natural and practical connection and keeps the journey entirely within the Cyclades. If you are traveling with a car, the conventional ferry from Paros takes your vehicle directly to Ermoupolis port.
