Getting from Antiparos to Igoumenitsa

If you are heading to Igoumenitsa from Antiparos you are making your way from a small quiet island in the Cyclades to a port city on the Epirus coast in the far northwest of Greece, the main departure point for ferries to Corfu, Paxos and Italy.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Antiparos to Igoumenitsa. Antiparos is connected only to Paros by a 7 minute ferry from Pounta running every 30 minutes in summer. Getting to Igoumenitsa means taking the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros, making your way to Piraeus and then traveling by road northwest to Igoumenitsa, which takes around 5 to 6 hours from Athens by bus or car. Alternatively, fly from Athens to Ioannina and take a bus or taxi to Igoumenitsa, which takes around 1 hour 30 minutes.

Getting there by air

Igoumenitsa has no airport. The nearest airport is Ioannina, around 83 kilometres to the east. Antiparos has no airport either. Taking the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros, making your way to Piraeus and flying to Ioannina via Athens, followed by a bus or taxi to Igoumenitsa, gives a total journey time of around 7 to 8 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros, make your way to Piraeus and fly to Ioannina via Athens, then take the bus or taxi to Igoumenitsa. It is the most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros, drive to Piraeus and then northwest via the Egnatia motorway to Igoumenitsa, which takes around 5 to 6 hours from Athens.
