Getting from Antipaxos to Aegina

If you are heading to Aegina from Antipaxos you are making your way from a tiny island in the Ionian Sea to the closest major island to Athens, in the Saronic Gulf. It has the best preserved ancient Greek temple in the country at Afaia, a thriving pistachio industry and a waterfront that fills up with Athenians every weekend.

Take the ferry

There are no scheduled ferries from Antipaxos to Aegina. Antipaxos has no ferry port of its own and is accessible only by sea taxi from Gaios on Paxos. Getting to Aegina means taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu, flying to Athens and then taking the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Aegina, which takes around 40 minutes on the fast boat and around 1 hour 20 minutes on the conventional ferry, with over 40 daily departures in summer.

Getting there by air

Aegina has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Antipaxos has no airport either. Taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu and flying to Athens, then taking the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Aegina gives a total journey time of around 7 to 8 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu, fly to Athens and take the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Aegina. With over 40 daily departures in summer you never need to book the Piraeus to Aegina connection in advance. If you are traveling with a car, take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos and drive to Piraeus for the conventional ferry across to Aegina.
