Getting from Antipaxos to Lemnos

If you are heading to Lemnos from Antipaxos you are making your way from a tiny island in the Ionian Sea to an island in the northern Aegean, on the opposite side of Greece. Lemnos has long sandy beaches, a Byzantine castle above the harbour at Myrina and some of the best Muscat wine in Greece.

Take the ferry

There are no scheduled ferries from Antipaxos to Lemnos. Antipaxos has no ferry port of its own and is accessible only by sea taxi from Gaios on Paxos. Getting to Lemnos by sea means taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Igoumenitsa, traveling to Athens and then boarding the Lavrio to Lemnos ferry, which runs 3 times a week and takes around 9 hours, or the Piraeus to Lemnos ferry which also runs several times a week. Flying is considerably more practical for most travelers.

Getting there by air

Lemnos has its own airport with connections from Athens and Thessaloniki. Antipaxos has no airport. The nearest airport is Corfu. Taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu and flying to Athens and then Athens to Lemnos gives a total journey time of around 7 to 8 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu and fly to Athens and then to Lemnos. It is the most practical approach. Lemnos Airport is around 22 kilometres from Myrina so factor in a taxi on arrival. Alternatively fly from Corfu to Thessaloniki and then directly to Lemnos, which avoids Athens entirely and saves considerable time.
