Getting from Antipaxos to Nafplio

If you are heading to Nafplio from Antipaxos you are making your way from a tiny island in the Ionian Sea to a neoclassical town on the Argolic Gulf in the Peloponnese, the first capital of modern Greece with the Venetian fortress of Palamidi above it and Mycenae, Epidaurus and Tiryns all within easy reach.

Take the ferry

There are no scheduled ferries from Antipaxos to Nafplio. Antipaxos has no ferry port of its own and is accessible only by sea taxi from Gaios on Paxos. Nafplio is accessible only by road. Getting there means taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Igoumenitsa and then driving south through the Peloponnese to Nafplio, which takes around 5 to 6 hours from Igoumenitsa via Patras and Corinth.

Getting there by air

Nafplio has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Antipaxos has no airport either. Taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu and flying to Athens, then driving or taking the KTEL bus to Nafplio gives a total journey time of around 7 to 8 hours. The KTEL bus from Athens Kifissos terminal runs several times daily to Nafplio and takes around 2.5 hours.

Your best option

Take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Igoumenitsa and drive south through the Peloponnese to Nafplio. It avoids Athens entirely and is the most practical approach if you are traveling with a car. If you prefer to fly, take the sea taxi to Paxos, ferry to Corfu, fly to Athens and drive or take the KTEL bus south to Nafplio.
