Getting from Antipaxos to Patras

If you are heading to Patras from Antipaxos you are making your way from a tiny island in the Ionian Sea to the third largest city in Greece on the southern shore of the Gulf of Corinth, the main gateway to the Ionian islands and western Europe. The two are relatively close in geographic terms on the western side of Greece.

Take the ferry

There are no scheduled ferries from Antipaxos to Patras. Antipaxos has no ferry port of its own and is accessible only by sea taxi from Gaios on Paxos. Getting to Patras means taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Igoumenitsa and then driving south to Patras, which takes around 2.5 to 3 hours from Igoumenitsa via Preveza and the Ionian motorway. It is one of the most natural connections from Antipaxos given the geographic proximity on the western Greek coast.

Getting there by air

Patras has a small seasonal airport at Araxos, around 40 kilometres from the city, operating limited flights from May to October only. The most practical approach is to take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Igoumenitsa and drive south to Patras. Total journey time is around 4 to 5 hours.

Your best option

Take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Igoumenitsa and drive south to Patras via the Ionian motorway. It is the most direct and natural approach and avoids Athens entirely. If you are traveling with a car this route is straightforward down the western coast of Greece and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours from Igoumenitsa.
