Getting from Antipaxos to Piraeus

If you are heading to Piraeus from Antipaxos you are making your way from a tiny island in the Ionian Sea to the largest port in Greece and the gateway to Athens and the wider ferry network.

Take the ferry

There are no scheduled ferries from Antipaxos to Piraeus. Antipaxos has no ferry port of its own and is accessible only by sea taxi from Gaios on Paxos. Getting to Piraeus means taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu, flying to Athens and then taking the metro or taxi to Piraeus, which takes around 20 to 45 minutes from Athens Airport. Alternatively, take the sea taxi to Paxos, ferry to Igoumenitsa and drive to Piraeus, which takes around 5 to 6 hours from Igoumenitsa.

Getting there by air

Piraeus has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 45 kilometres to the east. Antipaxos has no airport either. Taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu and flying to Athens, then taking the metro or taxi to Piraeus gives a total journey time of around 6 to 7 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu, fly to Athens and take the metro directly to Piraeus. It is the fastest and most practical approach. From Piraeus the metro connects you directly to central Athens in around 20 minutes. If you are traveling with a car, take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos and drive to Piraeus via Igoumenitsa and the Egnatia motorway, which takes around 5 to 6 hours from Igoumenitsa.
