Getting from Antipaxos to Poros

If you are heading to Poros from Antipaxos you are making your way from a tiny island in the Ionian Sea to a small island in the Saronic Gulf, on the opposite side of Greece. Poros sits just 200 metres from the Peloponnese mainland and the narrow channel between them creates one of the most charming harbour settings in Greece.

Take the ferry

There are no scheduled ferries from Antipaxos to Poros. Antipaxos has no ferry port of its own and is accessible only by sea taxi from Gaios on Paxos. Getting to Poros means taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu, flying to Athens and then taking the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Poros, which takes around 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes with several daily departures.

Getting there by air

Poros has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Antipaxos has no airport either. Taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu and flying to Athens, then taking the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Poros gives a total journey time of around 7 to 8 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu, fly to Athens and take the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Poros. It is the most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos and drive to Galatas on the Peloponnese coast, then take the short local ferry across to Poros, which takes only a few minutes and runs constantly throughout the day.
