Getting from Antipaxos to Rafina

If you are heading to Rafina from Antipaxos you are making your way from a tiny island in the Ionian Sea to the second most important ferry port serving Athens, on the northeastern Attica coast around 20 kilometres from Athens Airport. It is the departure point for ferries to Andros, Tinos, Mykonos and several northern Cycladic islands.

Take the ferry

There are no scheduled ferries from Antipaxos to Rafina. Antipaxos has no ferry port of its own and is accessible only by sea taxi from Gaios on Paxos. Getting to Rafina means taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu, flying to Athens and then taking a taxi directly to Rafina from Athens Airport, which takes around 20 to 25 minutes.

Getting there by air

Rafina has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 20 kilometres to the west. Antipaxos has no airport either. Taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu and flying to Athens, then taking a taxi to Rafina gives a total journey time of around 6 to 7 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu, fly to Athens and take a taxi directly to Rafina from the airport. At around 20 to 25 minutes it is one of the most convenient airport to port connections in Greece and avoids crossing the city to Piraeus entirely. If you are traveling with a car, take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos and drive northeast to Rafina via Athens.
