Getting from Chios to Sifnos
If you are heading to Sifnos from Chios you are making your way from one of the most overlooked islands in the northeastern Aegean to one of the most respected islands in the Cyclades, on the opposite side of Greece. It is known above all for its food, a tradition of pottery and cooking that has made it one of the most regarded gastronomic destinations in the Aegean.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Chios to Sifnos. Getting there by sea means taking the overnight Chios to Piraeus ferry, which runs around 3 times a week and takes around 9 hours, and then the Piraeus to Sifnos ferry, which runs up to 4 times daily in summer and takes around 2.5 hours on the fast boat. Alternatively fly from Chios to Athens and take the ferry from Piraeus to Sifnos.
Getting there by air
Sifnos has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Chios has its own airport with daily connections from Athens. Flying from Chios to Athens and then taking the ferry from Piraeus to Sifnos gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Fly from Chios to Athens and take the ferry from Piraeus to Sifnos. At around 2.5 hours on the fast boat the Piraeus to Sifnos crossing is one of the more manageable Cyclades connections. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Chios to Piraeus and board the conventional Piraeus to Sifnos ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to Kamares port.
