Getting from Elafonisos to Paros
If you are heading to Paros from Elafonisos you are making your way from a small island off the southern Peloponnese coast to the hub of the Cyclades, on the opposite side of Greece. It has one of the most beautiful small harbour villages in Greece at Naoussa, long sandy beaches on the west coast and a position at the centre of the island ferry network.
Take the ferry
Elafonisos has no ferry connection to the wider Greek ferry network. The only ferry from Elafonisos is the short 10 minute crossing to Pounta on the southern Peloponnese, which runs every 30 minutes in summer. Getting to Paros means taking the ferry from Elafonisos to Pounta and then driving north to Piraeus for the Piraeus to Paros ferry, which runs multiple times daily in summer and takes around 3 to 5 hours. Note that Paros National Airport has no commercial scheduled flights operating in 2026.
Getting there by air
Paros has a small airstrip but no commercial scheduled flights in 2026. Elafonisos has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens, around 3.5 to 4 hours by car from Pounta. Taking the ferry from Elafonisos to Pounta, driving north to Piraeus and boarding the Piraeus to Paros ferry gives a total journey time of around 7 to 9 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the ferry from Elafonisos to Pounta, drive north to Piraeus and board the Piraeus to Paros ferry. Having a car is helpful for the Pounta to Piraeus leg as the KTEL bus connection is slow and infrequent. Book ahead in July and August as this is one of the most popular routes in the Cyclades. If you are traveling with a car, the conventional ferry from Piraeus takes your vehicle directly to Parikia port.
