Getting from Syros to Tinos
If you are heading to Tinos from Syros you are making your way from the capital of the Cyclades to the most venerated pilgrimage island in the same group, just a short distance away. It has the most venerated pilgrimage church in Greece and a tradition of extraordinary marble craftsmanship in its interior villages.
Take the ferry
There is a direct ferry from Syros to Tinos running daily, taking around 30 to 35 minutes. It is one of the shortest ferry connections in the Cyclades and runs year-round making it one of the most effortless island hops in Greece. The two islands sit so close together that the crossing feels almost like crossing a harbour rather than an open sea.
Getting there by air
Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Syros has a small domestic airport with limited connections from Athens. The direct ferry from Syros to Tinos is considerably more practical than flying for this short island hop given the crossing time of around 30 to 35 minutes. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the direct ferry from Syros to Tinos. At around 30 to 35 minutes it is the most natural and effortless connection between the two islands and runs year-round. No advance booking is needed for most of the year. If you are traveling with a car the conventional ferry takes your vehicle directly across to Tinos port.
