Getting from Tinos to Anafi

If you are heading to Anafi from Tinos you are making your way from the most venerated pilgrimage island in the Cyclades to one of the most remote islands in the same group, to the south. It has a monolithic rock rising 460 metres from the sea and almost no tourist infrastructure.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Tinos to Anafi. Getting there by sea means taking the ferry from Tinos south through the Cyclades via Mykonos, Paros, Naxos and Santorini, and then the short ferry from Santorini to Anafi taking around 1 hour 15 minutes and running several times a week in summer. This keeps the journey entirely within the Cyclades and avoids Athens and Piraeus entirely, though the total journey time is around 6 to 8 hours depending on connections. Alternatively take the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus and board the Piraeus to Anafi ferry, which runs around 3 times a week and takes around 8 to 11 hours.

Getting there by air

Anafi has no airport. The nearest airport is Santorini. Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Taking the short ferry from Tinos to Mykonos, flying from Mykonos to Athens and then Athens to Santorini, followed by the short ferry to Anafi, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Tinos south through the Cyclades to Santorini and then the short ferry across to Anafi. It keeps the journey within the Cyclades and avoids Athens entirely. Check the schedules carefully before booking as the Santorini to Anafi service runs a limited number of times per week. Come with everything you need as Anafi has almost no facilities and that is entirely the point of going.
