Getting from Tinos to Evia

If you are heading to Evia from Tinos you are making your way from the most venerated pilgrimage island in the Cyclades to the second largest island in Greece, connected to the mainland by road bridges and within easy reach of Athens.

Take the ferry

There is a particularly natural connection from Tinos to Evia given that Rafina, one of the main ferry ports for Tinos, sits just across the water from southern Evia. Taking the direct ferry from Tinos to Rafina, which runs up to 12 times daily in summer and takes around 2 hours, and then taking the short ferry from Rafina's nearby Marmari connection across to Evia gives a total journey time of around 3 to 4 hours. Alternatively cross the bridge at Halkida from the mainland after arriving at Rafina, which takes around 1.5 hours by car.

Getting there by air

Evia has no commercial airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Taking the direct ferry from Tinos to Rafina and then crossing to Evia gives a total journey time of around 3 to 4 hours and avoids Athens entirely. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the direct ferry from Tinos to Rafina and then cross to Evia either via the short Marmari ferry or by driving to Halkida for the bridge crossing. It avoids Athens entirely and is the most natural and direct approach. If you are heading to northern Evia, drive from Rafina to Arkitsa and take the short ferry to Loutra Edipsou, which takes around 30 minutes. If you are traveling with a car the conventional ferry from Tinos takes your vehicle directly to Rafina.
