Getting from Tinos to Rafina

If you are heading to Rafina from Tinos you are making your way from the most venerated pilgrimage island in the Cyclades to the second most important ferry port serving Athens, on the northeastern Attica coast around 20 kilometres from Athens Airport. It is the departure point for ferries to Andros, Tinos, Mykonos and several northern Cycladic islands.

Take the ferry

There is a direct ferry from Tinos to Rafina running up to 12 times daily in summer, taking around 2 hours. It is one of the most natural and frequent connections from Tinos given that Rafina is the primary mainland port serving the northern Cyclades. The service is well established and reliable year-round with reduced frequency in winter.

Getting there by air

Rafina has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 20 kilometres to the west. Tinos has no airport. The direct ferry from Tinos to Rafina is considerably more practical than flying for this connection and at around 2 hours it is one of the most effortless Cyclades to mainland crossings available.

Your best option

Take the direct ferry from Tinos to Rafina. With up to 12 daily departures in summer it is the most natural and direct connection and arrives just 20 kilometres from Athens Airport. From Rafina you can take a taxi to Athens Airport in around 20 minutes or continue into central Athens by taxi or bus. If you are traveling with a car the conventional ferry takes your vehicle directly to Rafina port.
