Getting from Zakynthos to Agistri
If you are heading to Agistri from Zakynthos you are making your way from one of the most beautiful of the Ionian islands to a small pine-covered island in the Saronic Gulf, on the opposite side of Greece. It is almost entirely covered in forest with good beaches and clear water close to Athens.
Getting there by air
Agistri has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Zakynthos has an international airport with connections from Athens. Flying from Zakynthos to Athens and then taking the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Agistri, which takes around 55 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes with up to 15 daily departures in summer, gives a total journey time of around 4 to 5 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Zakynthos to Agistri. No Ionian island is connected by sea to any Aegean island. Getting there by road means taking the ferry from Zakynthos to Kyllini and driving northeast through the Peloponnese via Patras and Corinth to Piraeus, which takes around 3.5 to 4 hours from Kyllini, and then boarding the Saronic ferry to Agistri.
Your best option
Fly from Zakynthos to Athens and take the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Agistri. With up to 15 daily departures in summer you never need to book the Piraeus to Agistri connection in advance. It is the fastest and most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Zakynthos to Kyllini and drive northeast to Piraeus for the conventional ferry across to Agistri.
