Getting from Zakynthos to Piraeus

If you are heading to Piraeus from Zakynthos you are making your way from one of the most beautiful of the Ionian islands to the largest port in Greece and the gateway to Athens and the wider ferry network.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Zakynthos to Piraeus. The only ferry connection from Zakynthos goes to Kyllini on the northwestern Peloponnese coast, taking around 1 hour 15 minutes and running multiple times daily. From Kyllini you can drive to Piraeus, which takes around 3 to 3.5 hours via Patras and Corinth. Alternatively fly from Zakynthos to Athens and then take the metro or taxi to Piraeus, which takes around 20 to 45 minutes from Athens Airport.

Getting there by air

Piraeus has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 45 kilometres to the east. Zakynthos has an international airport with connections from Athens. Flying from Zakynthos to Athens and then taking the metro or taxi to Piraeus gives a total journey time of around 3 to 4 hours and is considerably faster than traveling by road.

Your best option

Fly from Zakynthos to Athens and take the metro directly to Piraeus. It is the fastest and most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Zakynthos to Kyllini and drive northeast via Patras and Corinth to Piraeus, which takes around 3 to 3.5 hours from Kyllini.
