Getting from Zakynthos to Skiathos
If you are heading to Skiathos from Zakynthos you are making your way from one of the most beautiful of the Ionian islands to the most cosmopolitan of the Sporades group, in the northern Aegean. It has a lush green coastline, an international airport and some of the finest sandy beaches in the northern Aegean.
Getting there by air
Skiathos has its own international airport with daily connections from Athens. Zakynthos has an international airport with connections from Athens. Flying from Zakynthos to Athens and then Athens to Skiathos takes around 40 minutes on the second leg. Total journey time is around 4 to 5 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Zakynthos to Skiathos. No Ionian island is connected by sea to any Aegean island. Getting there by road means taking the ferry from Zakynthos to Kyllini and driving to Volos or Mantoudi for the ferry to Skiathos, which takes around 5 to 6 hours from Kyllini via Patras and Athens. Note that as of 2026 there are no departures from Agios Konstantinos to Skiathos.
Your best option
Fly from Zakynthos to Athens and then fly to Skiathos. It is the fastest and most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Zakynthos to Kyllini and drive to Volos or Mantoudi for the ferry across to Skiathos.
