About the Beach

Agios Dimitrios is a very long and beautiful sandy beach located at the southernmost tip of Kythnos, offering a sense of total tranquility and space. The shore is lined with large tamarisk trees that provide abundant natural shade, and the water is shallow, clear, and very calm. It is a relatively quiet destination that attracts those looking to escape the busier port areas of the island. There are a few traditional tavernas in the small village behind the beach, providing a very authentic and local atmosphere for a long afternoon. Because of its southern orientation, it is well-protected from the meltemi winds, making the sea surface smooth and easy for swimming. It is an ideal place for families and for travelers who appreciate a raw, unorganized coastal environment where the focus is on the natural landscape and the gentle sound of the waves. The sunset views here are particularly soft and beautiful.
