About the Beach
Armeni Beach is a quiet and picturesque bay located on the northwestern coast of Santorini, tucked directly below the village of Oia. It features dark volcanic pebbles and very deep, clear turquoise water that provides a refreshing environment for strong swimmers. Access is via a scenic but challenging descent of nearly 300 steep stone steps from the town or by a short boat trip from nearby Ammoudi Bay. It is a largely unorganized destination, maintaining a raw and tranquil atmosphere away from the intense crowds of the upper cliffs. A small traditional taverna and a diving center are located by the water, adding a functional and local touch to the cove. The surrounding red and black cliffs offer a majestic frame to the sea and the small pier where yachts occasionally dock. It is a destination for those who want to see the caldera from sea level in a peaceful setting. You should be prepared for the climb back up.
