About the Beach

Avra is a great little beach right in Aegina Town that is perfect if you do not want to hike across the island to find a place to swim. It is sitting just behind the main port, which makes it incredibly easy to get to, especially if you have just stepped off a ferry. The water stays quite shallow and clear for a good distance, so it is a common choice for families or anyone who just wants a quick, easy dip. You get a nice view of the old columns at the Kolona archaeological site right from your towel, and the whole area has a very relaxed, local feel despite being so close to the shops and cafes. It is a mix of sand and pebbles, and it is a solid choice if you want to balance a day of sightseeing with some time in the sea.
