About the Beach
Ganema Beach is one of the most expansive and strikingly beautiful coastal sanctuaries on the southern coast of Serifos, located within the large and well-protected Bay of Koutalas and famously defined by its dual shore of fine golden sand on one side and smooth white pebbles on the other. It features exceptionally clear turquoise water that remains remarkably calm because the bay is shielded from the strong northern meltemi winds by the surrounding high rocky hills and the natural island topography. The beach is partially organized with a few sunbeds and is lined with numerous large tamarisk trees that provide a generous amount of natural shade and a fresh, green backdrop to the Mediterranean scenery. A traditional taverna is located right on the edge of the sand, serving fresh local delicacies and chilled wine in a relaxed and friendly environment that captures the authentic spirit of the local community. The water is deep and fresh, offering a high-quality environment for a long swim in a rugged and secluded setting where the marine life is abundant and the air is filled with the scent of wild herbs and salt. Access is very easy via a paved road from the main port of Livadi, and there is plenty of space for visitors to find their own private corner even during the peak summer months.
