About the Beach
Glyfada Beach is one of the most expansive and impressively beautiful sandy shores on the southwestern coast of Naxos, extending for several kilometers and offering a sense of total freedom and a wide horizon. It features a vast stretch of fine golden sand and shallow, crystal-clear turquoise water, backed by a unique landscape of cedar trees and sand dunes that provide a fresh, natural environment and a generous amount of shade. The beach is largely unorganized and maintains a raw, majestic character, making it a destination for nature lovers and those seeking absolute tranquility away from the busier resort areas of the island. Because it is located in a relatively sheltered position, the water remains calm and inviting for long swims, while the surrounding area is perfect for long walks along the shore to explore the diverse coastal ecology. The water is exceptionally clean and the entry is very easy and sandy for all swimmers, providing a safe and inviting spot for a day by the sea in one of the island's most serene and well-maintained locations. Access is very easy via a paved road from the main town, and there is plenty of space for visitors to find their own private corner of the sand even during the peak summer months of the tourist season.
