About the Beach
Kato Koufonisi Pori is a spectacular and nearly untouched sandy beach located on the northeastern side of the uninhabited Kato Koufonisi. It should not be confused with the famous Pori on the main island, as this version offers a much wilder and more isolated experience. The water is a luminous, pale turquoise and stays very shallow for a long distance, making it feel like a massive natural swimming pool. There are no facilities, buildings, or shade, so the landscape is dominated by low scrub and the vast Aegean horizon. Access is by boat or a long, dusty hike through the island's interior, which ensures that only a handful of people are ever there at once. It is a dream destination for those who want to experience the absolute purity of the Small Cyclades in total silence. The clarity of the sea here is world-class, providing a sense of peace that is hard to find elsewhere.
