About the Beach

Martinakia is a small and very accessible sandy beach located just a short walk from the main port of Merichas on Kythnos. It features soft sand and very clear water, offering a convenient and high-quality swimming option for those who have just arrived or are staying near the harbor. The beach is well-sheltered within a small bay, which keeps the water calm and inviting most of the time. There are a couple of excellent beach bars and tavernas right on the sand, providing a lively yet relaxed atmosphere for a morning swim or a lunch break. Despite its proximity to the port, the water remains remarkably clean and a beautiful shade of turquoise. It is a very friendly and social spot that serves as a great introduction to the island’s seaside life. The entry into the water is gentle and sandy, making it a safe and comfortable choice for all types of swimmers.
