About the Beach

Moutsouna is a small and traditional beach located in the namesake port on the eastern coast of Naxos. It features a mix of sand and fine pebbles with very clear, calm water. The beach is situated right next to the historic loading facilities for the island's emery mines, giving the area a unique industrial and maritime character. It is a quiet destination with a few traditional tavernas that are famous for their fresh seafood. The atmosphere is local and authentic, reflecting the history of the eastern villages. The water is shallow near the shore and the entry is easy for all swimmers. It is a spot where you can combine a swim with a visit to a part of the island that feels unchanged by modern tourism. The views of the small harbor and the local fishing boats are very scenic. It is a part of the coast that is full of local soul.
