About the Beach
Pedi Beach is a charming and very convenient coastal bay on the eastern coast of Symi, located within a traditional settlement just a short bus or taxi ride from the main port of Gialos. It features a shore of small pebbles and sand with calm, clear blue water that remains well-protected from the seasonal winds by the surrounding rocky hills. The beach is well-organized with sections of sunbeds and umbrellas provided by the local hotels and tavernas, and it is shaded by numerous tamarisk trees that line the back of the sand. Several traditional fish tavernas and cafes are located right by the water edge, offering fresh local delicacies and a friendly maritime atmosphere. Pedi serves as a central hub for the island water taxis, which frequently depart from the local pier to take visitors to the more remote beaches of Agios Nikolaos and Agia Marina. The water is consistently clean and the entry is easy for most swimmers, making it a safe and practical choice for families. The atmosphere is welcoming and full of local character, showing the daily life of the island residents. It is a part of the coast that offers a sense of neighborhood charm and easy access to the sea.
