Madonna's Spiritual Visit to Greece

Madonna's Greek summer took a soulful turn on Patmos. The 68-year-old star spent three days on the Dodecanese island after arriving on August 17, and the photos she keeps sharing on Instagram show a quieter, more reflective side of her holiday.

This trip was personal. She travelled with her eldest son, Rocco, and shared that the very first time she visited Greece she was seven months pregnant with him. Bringing him back as a grown man, she said, felt like "closing a circle."

Her days on the island centered on its sacred sites, the Cave of the Apocalypse and the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian. According to Christian tradition, Patmos is where John received the visions recorded in the Book of Revelation. In photos taken inside an Orthodox church, Madonna covered her hair, lit candles and prayed. She described the visit as deeply moving and said she felt the presence of God there.

There was a lighter moment too. Mother and son were pictured at a seaside taverna enjoying Mamos, a beer made by a brewery in Patras, and the brewery happily thanked her on Instagram, calling the sight "as iconic as it gets."

Patmos was the final chapter of a memorable Greek summer for the Queen of Pop, which also took in a visit to Meteora and her Corfu birthday celebration.
