Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of East Moline, Illinois was established in 1919 by Greek immigrants who had settled in the Quad Cities region and sought to build a spiritual home for their growing community. The parish's original location on 18th Avenue in East Moline served as the center of Greek Orthodox life in the area for more than six decades, a gathering place for families who came together in faith, fellowship, and the preservation of their Hellenic heritage on the banks of the Mississippi.

By the late 1970s it had become clear that the original building could no longer accommodate the community's needs. In 1982 a larger, more modern facility was constructed at 4900 Kennedy Drive, the address the parish calls home today.
