St. Eupsychios of Caesarea Feast Day and Greek Name Day

St. Eupsychios of Caesarea is honored in the Orthodox Christian Church as a Christian martyr remembered for his strong faith and courage during the persecutions of Christians in the Roman Empire. His feast day is celebrated on April 9, and on this day people named Eupsychios, Eftychios, Eftychia, and Eftychis celebrate their Greek name day.

Who Was St. Eupsychios

St. Eupsychios lived in Caesarea in Cappadocia during the 4th century, a time when Christianity was still facing opposition in parts of the Roman Empire.

He was known as a respected member of the Christian community and was devoted to the teachings of the Church.

Courage During Persecution

According to Christian tradition, shortly after his wedding, St. Eupsychios openly opposed the worship of pagan idols that was still practiced in the city. Because of his public defense of Christianity, he was arrested by the authorities.

Despite pressure to renounce his faith, Eupsychios remained committed to Christianity.

Martyrdom

St. Eupsychios was eventually executed for his faith, becoming one of the early Christian martyrs honored by the Church. His courage and devotion led the Orthodox Church to commemorate him among those who gave their lives defending Christianity.

Greek Name Day for Eupsychios

Because St. Eupsychios of Caesarea is commemorated on April 9, this date is also the Greek name day for:

Eupsychios

Eftychios

Eftychia

Eftychis

In Greek culture, celebrating a name day is often just as important as celebrating a birthday. Friends and family commonly offer well wishes or visits to honor the person whose name is being celebrated.
