Where Should I Stay on Spetses?

Spetses splits mainly between the main harbor and the quieter Old Harbor a short walk away, with beach-adjacent stays rounding out the choice.

Spetses Town, centered on Dapia harbor, gives the most practical base, with restaurants, shops, and the ferry dock all within walking distance, and evenings here stay lively with the island's main social energy. It suits first-time visitors and anyone wanting restaurants and nightlife close to where they're sleeping.

The Old Harbor, about fifteen minutes' walk east, trades some of that energy for atmosphere, with traditional wooden boats still built in the boatyard and neoclassical mansions converted into quieter accommodation. It suits travelers wanting a more residential pace with excellent fish tavernas close by.

Kounoupitsa, along the seafront between the two harbors, gives a similarly residential setting with early 20th century buildings restored into hotels, suiting anyone wanting a middle ground between Dapia's energy and the Old Harbor's calm.

For travelers prioritizing beach access, staying near Agia Marina puts golden sand and clear water close by, though it means relying on a bicycle, water taxi, or the island's horse-drawn carriages to reach Dapia's restaurants each evening.

Once a base is decided, hotels and places to stay on Spetses span Dapia, the Old Harbor, Kounoupitsa, and the area near Agia Marina, so the choice comes down to nightlife, atmosphere, or beach proximity.

Spetses connects to Piraeus by high speed ferry in around two to two and a half hours, and travelers extending the trip to Hydra should check ferry schedules and book tickets ahead of a summer visit. Dapia suits most first-time visitors, the Old Harbor suits those wanting quiet and character, Kounoupitsa suits a middle ground, and Agia Marina suits travelers prioritizing beach access.
