Getting from Aegina to Agios Efstratios
If you are heading to Agios Efstratios from Aegina you are making your way to a small flat island between Lemnos and Lesvos in the northern Aegean. It has a single rebuilt village and beaches that see almost no visitors outside of a handful of Greeks who keep the place to themselves.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Agios Efstratios. The island is connected primarily through Lemnos, with ferries running from Lemnos to Agios Efstratios four times a week in summer and once a week in the low season, taking around 1 hour 30 minutes. There is also a connection from Lavrio, around 35 kilometres from Athens Airport, which takes around 8 hours. Getting to either port from Aegina means taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus first and then flying or travelling by road.
Getting there by air
Agios Efstratios has no airport. The nearest airport is Lemnos. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Lemnos, followed by the ferry to Agios Efstratios taking around 1 hour 30 minutes, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours.
Your best option
Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, fly to Lemnos and take the ferry across to Agios Efstratios. Check the Lemnos to Agios Efstratios schedule before booking your flights as the ferry runs only four times a week in summer and once a week in winter. Bring everything you need with you.
