Getting from Aegina to Fournoi
If you are heading to Fournoi from Aegina you are making your way to a cluster of small fishing islands between Ikaria and Samos in the eastern Aegean. It has excellent seafood, quiet beaches and almost no tourist infrastructure.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Fournoi. The most practical ferry approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then fly to Ikaria or Samos and take the short local ferry across to Fournoi, which takes under 1 hour from Ikaria.
Getting there by air
Fournoi has no airport. The nearest airports are Ikaria and Samos. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Ikaria takes around 50 minutes in the air, followed by the local ferry to Fournoi taking under 1 hour. Total travel time is around 5 to 6 hours.
Your best option
Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, fly to Ikaria and take the local ferry across to Fournoi. It is the most practical approach. Give yourself at least two nights on Fournoi and come prepared as facilities on the island are limited.
