Getting from Aegina to Kasos

If you are heading to Kasos from Aegina you are making your way to the southernmost island in the Dodecanese group. It has a maritime history that produced some of Greece's most celebrated sea captains and an authenticity that comes from being almost entirely off the tourist circuit.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Kasos. The most practical ferry approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then board the Piraeus to Kasos ferry, which runs 3 times a week and takes around 12 hours. It is a long total journey but connects the two without flying.

Getting there by air

Kasos has its own small airport with connections from Athens via Rhodes and Karpathos. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Kasos via Rhodes takes around 4 to 5 hours in total and is the most practical approach for most travellers.

Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus and fly to Kasos via Athens and Rhodes. It is the fastest approach. If you are travelling with a car, take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus and board the Piraeus to Kasos ferry, which takes your vehicle and arrives in around 12 hours.
