Getting from Aegina to Lipsi
If you are heading to Lipsi from Aegina you are making your way to a small island between Patmos and Leros in the northern Dodecanese group. It has a pretty harbour village, uncrowded beaches and an atmosphere of complete calm.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Lipsi. The most practical ferry approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then board the Piraeus to Lipsi ferry, which runs around 3 times a week in summer and takes around 9 to 10 hours. Flying to Leros and taking the short ferry across is considerably faster.
Getting there by air
Lipsi has no airport. The nearest airport is Leros. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Leros takes around 50 minutes in the air, followed by the ferry from Leros to Lipsi taking around 20 to 40 minutes. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours.
Your best option
Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, fly to Leros and take the short ferry across to Lipsi. It is the most time efficient approach. If you are travelling with a car, take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus and board the overnight Piraeus to Lipsi ferry, which takes your vehicle and arrives in the morning.
