Getting from Aegina to Lemnos

If you are heading to Lemnos from Aegina you are making your way to an island in the northern Aegean, with long sandy beaches, a Byzantine castle above the harbour at Myrina and some of the best Muscat wine in Greece.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Lemnos. The most practical ferry approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then travel to Lavrio, around 35 kilometres from Athens Airport, for the ferry to Lemnos which takes around 9 hours and runs 3 times a week. A connection from Piraeus also exists but takes around 22 hours and is not a realistic option.

Getting there by air

Lemnos has an airport with daily connections from Athens. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Lemnos takes around 1 hour in the air. Total travel time is around 3 to 4 hours and is the most practical approach for most travellers.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus and fly to Lemnos. It is the fastest and most practical approach. Lemnos Airport is around 22 kilometres from Myrina so factor in a taxi or transfer on arrival. If you are travelling with a car, the Lavrio to Lemnos ferry is the practical choice as it takes your vehicle directly to the island.
