Getting from Agistri to Lemnos

If you are heading to Lemnos from Agistri you are making your way from a small pine-covered island in the Saronic Gulf to an island in the northern Aegean, in a completely different part of the Greek island world. Lemnos has long sandy beaches, a Byzantine castle above the harbour at Myrina and some of the best Muscat wine in Greece.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agistri to Lemnos. Getting there means taking the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, which takes around 55 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Lemnos, or alternatively taking the long Piraeus to Lemnos ferry, which runs around 3 times a week via multiple northern Aegean islands and takes around 12 to 15 hours. Flying is considerably more practical for most travelers.

Getting there by air

Lemnos has its own airport with daily connections from Athens. Taking the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Lemnos takes around 1 hour in the air. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours and is the most practical approach for most travelers. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and fly to Lemnos via Athens. It is the fastest and most practical approach. Lemnos Airport is around 22 kilometres from Myrina so factor in a taxi or transfer on arrival. If you are traveling with a car, take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and board the overnight Piraeus to Lemnos ferry, which takes your vehicle and arrives in the morning.
