Getting from Agistri to Leros

If you are heading to Leros from Agistri you are making your way from a small pine-covered island in the Saronic Gulf to one of the most atmospheric islands in the Dodecanese group, with a striking Art Deco Italian colonial port at Lakki and a medieval castle above the main town of Platanos.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agistri to Leros. The most practical ferry approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, which takes around 55 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes, and then board the Piraeus to Leros ferry, which runs 3 to 5 times a week and takes around 8 to 9 hours. Flying is considerably more practical for most travelers.

Getting there by air

Leros has its own small airport with daily connections from Athens in summer, running up to 2 to 3 flights daily. Taking the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Leros takes around 50 minutes in the air. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours and is the most practical approach for most travelers.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and fly to Leros via Athens. It is the fastest and most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and board the overnight Piraeus to Leros ferry, which takes your vehicle and arrives in the morning.
