Getting from Agistri to Zakynthos

If you are heading to Zakynthos from Agistri you are making your way from a small pine-covered island in the Saronic Gulf to one of the most beautiful of the Ionian islands, on the opposite side of Greece. It has Navagio Beach, the shipwreck cove with towering white cliffs and turquoise water that is one of the most photographed places in the Mediterranean.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agistri to Zakynthos and there is no ferry from Athens to Zakynthos either. Getting there by ferry means taking the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, which takes around 55 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes, and then taking the KTEL bus and ferry combination via Kyllini on the western Peloponnese, with the ferry from Kyllini to Zakynthos taking around 1 hour 15 minutes. Total journey time by this route is around 7 to 8 hours.

Getting there by air

Both Zakynthos and Athens have airports. Taking the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Zakynthos takes around 50 to 55 minutes in the air. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours and is the most practical approach for most travelers.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and fly to Zakynthos via Athens. It is the fastest and most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and drive to Kyllini for the ferry across to Zakynthos, which at around 1 hour 15 minutes is a short and frequent connection.
