Getting from Alexandroupoli to Agistri

If you are heading to Agistri from Alexandroupoli you are making your way from the far northeastern corner of Greece to a small pine-covered island in the Saronic Gulf, on the opposite side of the country. It is almost entirely covered in forest with good beaches and clear water close to Athens.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Alexandroupoli to Agistri. Alexandroupoli's ferry connections are limited to Samothrace, Lemnos, Agios Efstratios and Lavrio. Getting to Agistri by sea means flying to Athens first and then taking the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Agistri, which takes around 55 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes with up to 15 daily departures in summer.

Getting there by air

Agistri has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Flying from Alexandroupoli to Athens and then taking the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Agistri gives a total journey time of around 3 to 4 hours.

Your best option

Fly from Alexandroupoli to Athens and take the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Agistri. With up to 15 daily departures in summer you never need to book the Piraeus to Agistri connection in advance. If you are traveling with a car, drive from Alexandroupoli to Piraeus via the Egnatia motorway and E75, which takes around 8 to 9 hours, and then take the conventional ferry across to Agistri.
