Getting from Alexandroupoli to Lemnos

If you are heading to Lemnos from Alexandroupoli you are making your way to a neighbouring island in the northern Aegean, one of the most straightforward connections from the city. Lemnos has long sandy beaches, a Byzantine castle above the harbour at Myrina and some of the best Muscat wine in Greece.

Take the ferry

There is a direct ferry from Alexandroupoli to Lemnos running several times a week, taking around 5 to 6 hours. It is one of the most practical sea connections from Alexandroupoli and keeps the journey entirely within the northern Aegean. Check the schedule before planning around it as your travel dates need to align with the available departures.

Getting there by air

Lemnos has its own airport with connections from Athens and Thessaloniki. Flying from Alexandroupoli to Thessaloniki and then directly to Lemnos avoids Athens entirely and is the fastest approach. A direct Alexandroupoli to Lemnos flight may also be available seasonally so check before routing through Thessaloniki. Total journey time by air is around 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the connection.

Your best option

Check whether a direct Alexandroupoli to Lemnos flight is available for your dates. If it is, take it. If not, take the direct ferry from Alexandroupoli to Lemnos. At around 5 to 6 hours it is a manageable sea crossing and keeps the journey within the northern Aegean. Lemnos Airport is around 22 kilometres from Myrina so factor in a taxi on arrival if flying.
