Getting from Alonissos to Corfu

If you are heading to Corfu from Alonissos you are making your way from the most remote of the Sporades group to the northwestern part of Greece, an island in the Ionian Sea with a UNESCO World Heritage Site town and a lush green coastline.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Alonissos to Corfu. The only mainland ferry connection to Corfu departs from Igoumenitsa. Getting there means taking the ferry from Alonissos to Volos and then driving northwest to Igoumenitsa via Thessaloniki and the Egnatia motorway, which takes around 5.5 to 6 hours from Volos, followed by the short ferry from Igoumenitsa to Corfu taking around 1 hour 30 minutes.

Getting there by air

Corfu has an international airport with connections from Athens and Thessaloniki. Alonissos has no airport. Taking the ferry from Alonissos to Skiathos and flying to Corfu via Thessaloniki avoids Athens entirely in summer when direct services operate. Flying via Athens gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Alonissos to Skiathos and fly to Corfu via Thessaloniki or Athens. It is the fastest and most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Alonissos to Volos, drive northwest via Thessaloniki and the Egnatia motorway to Igoumenitsa and take the ferry across to Corfu.
