Getting from Alonissos to Lemnos
If you are heading to Lemnos from Alonissos you are making your way from the most remote of the Sporades group to an island in the northern Aegean, in a completely different part of the Greek island world. Lemnos has long sandy beaches, a Byzantine castle above the harbour at Myrina and some of the best Muscat wine in Greece.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Alonissos to Lemnos. Getting there by sea means taking the ferry from Alonissos to Volos and then driving or taking the bus to Kavala or Thessaloniki for a connection north toward Lemnos. Flying is considerably more practical for this route.
Getting there by air
Lemnos has its own airport with daily connections from Athens and Thessaloniki. Alonissos has no airport. Taking the ferry from Alonissos to Skiathos and flying to Lemnos via Thessaloniki avoids Athens entirely and gives a total journey time of around 3 to 4 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the ferry from Alonissos to Skiathos and fly to Lemnos via Thessaloniki. It is the fastest and most practical approach and avoids Athens entirely. Lemnos Airport is around 22 kilometres from Myrina so factor in a taxi on arrival.
